"Why can't I just be happy?"
Have you said this to yourself before? Are you feeling hopeless and empty? Like there's a dark cloud hanging over your head?
Depression can make it feel like nothing is going to get better. It might make you feel like you are worthless and you may think "what's the point?"
You might be feeling guilty. Maybe on the outside you've got everything: a good job, nice family, lots of friends. But you just don't know why you feel so sad.
It's not as simple as "just be happy."
It's more than having the blues or having a bad day every once in a while.
Depression can look like:
Loss of interest in what you used to like to do
Appetite changes and weight loss/gain
Anger or irritability
Fatigue or loss of energy
Difficulty thinking and concentrating
Depression can be really awful. It keeps you from living a life that is meaningful to you. It keeps you from connecting with the people you love.
I want to help you feel alive and joyful again. Through therapy, you can start to sort through the reasons why you are depressed and figure out how to start feeling like yourself. It might not be easy, but you are worth it.
